They think they are on top of the world and invincible, sometimes they can hear or see things no one else can, can spend lots of money and run up debt, and can have reckless sexual behaviour. When the lows hit, the place they go to is so dark that while the depression lasts they can't see a way out, and this is dangerous because it increases the risk of suicide. Type II - In type II the person has recurrent depressive periods and brief hypomanic episodes. The elations aren't as severe as they are in Type I, so it's called a hypomanic episode. It's also quite hard to spot if the person is outgoing and busy normally. Rapid Cycling - This is where a person's mood swings more often than four times a year.
